AI Monitoring for Financial Services Marketing Compliance: Brand Intelligence Tools AlphaSense, Brandwatch, Meltwater, Signal AI
Which brand intelligence tools actually monitor what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about a bank or insurer, which don't, and how marketing and compliance get a dated record they can act on.
A bank's marketing team has two problems with AI answers. The obvious one is being absent: someone asks ChatGPT for a good savings account and the bank isn't in the list. The quieter one is being described wrong. The answer quotes last year's rate, mixes up two fee schedules, or says a product is still on sale when it was withdrawn in spring.
Compliance cares about the second problem. Marketing usually finds out about it from a customer complaint.
This post looks at the four brand intelligence names that show up when financial services teams search for AI monitoring. One of them doesn't do AI answer monitoring at all. Then it covers what a team needs if the goal is to fix the answer, not only to log it.
What the compliance problem actually is
We're not going to quote regulations here, and you should get your own legal read on them. The practical point holds without them. An AI answer about your rates, fees or eligibility rules is not your promotion. You didn't write it. But when it's wrong, the customer who relied on it calls your contact center, not OpenAI. Misstatements turn into complaints and reputational risk whoever authored them.
So marketing and compliance need the same artifact: a dated record of what each engine said, for which question, and which page it cited as the source. Screenshots taken by hand on the morning of a board meeting don't scale and can't show a trend. And the record only helps if it points to something you can change, usually a page on your own site that the engine is reading.
The four names in this search
AlphaSense: research, not answer monitoring
AlphaSense is a market intelligence and investment research platform, around since 2011. It searches filings, earnings transcripts, broker research, expert calls and news, adds financial data, and its Generative Search answers cite the exact snippet they came from. It also runs Deep Research and scheduled agents.
It's very good at what it's for, which is helping analysts research companies and markets. It is not a tool that watches what ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity say about your brand, and we found no AlphaSense product that does. If it's already in your stack, keep it for research. Don't count it as AI answer coverage.
Brandwatch, powered by Trajaan
Cision, which owns Brandwatch, acquired Trajaan. Brandwatch now sells Search Intelligence "powered by Trajaan," covering search behavior across generative AI, social, shopping and traditional search in 150+ countries. Brandwatch says it can "monitor how leading LLMs cite your brand and competitors across thousands of prompts worldwide," with early warnings on high-risk LLM narratives. The Trajaan data shows up inside Brandwatch Consumer Research dashboards. Cision's own AI Visibility Dashboard in CisionOne draws on the same Trajaan data.
The seat here is the comms and insights team. It's built to spot a narrative forming.
Meltwater GenAI Lens
Meltwater GenAI Lens lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, DeepSeek, Llama, Claude, Gemini and Grok on its official page. It reports prevalence scores, AI share of voice, prompt-level customization, and tracking of cited sources such as earned media, press releases, Reddit and Wikipedia, plus GEO recommendations. Meltwater says it's "typically offered as an add-on within the Meltwater platform." Pricing isn't published.
One oddity to check in your demo. The page says data is "refreshed on a 24-hour cycle" in the body and "refreshed every 48 hours" in the FAQ. Ask which applies to your contract, because a fee change can sit in an answer for a day or two before the record catches it.
Signal AI and AI Citations
Signal AI sells reputation and risk intelligence to comms and risk teams. Its homepage says it licenses content from Dow Jones Factiva, LexisNexis, Moody's NewsEdge, the FT and the Washington Post, across 226 markets and 120+ languages. AI Citations went GA on May 27, 2026. It shows how brands appear in answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and which earned-media articles drive that visibility, using publisher readership data from Signal AI's acquisition of Memo. An MCP connector followed on June 10, 2026.
The framing is earned media. If the problem is that the FT's coverage is shaping what Gemini says about you, this is the right lens.
What these tools record, and what they leave out
Brandwatch, Meltwater and Signal AI all monitor LLM answers from a PR seat. They'll tell you the narrative, the sentiment, and often which press article the engine leaned on. None of the product pages we reviewed lists AI crawler logs or on-site conversion analytics. And when the cited source is your own outdated product page, the comms team usually can't fix it. That page belongs to web and product marketing.
That's the gap for a regulated marketer. The error is often on a URL you control, and the fix is a reviewed page update that the AI crawlers then pick up.
Promptwatch for a regulated marketing team
Promptwatch is the platform we'd put in that seat. It stores responses for each prompt over time, and prompt trends show what changed between checks. That's the dated record compliance wants. Each response carries sentiment and page-level citations. Personas let you ask the question as a first-time saver or as a small business owner. Country, state and city targeting matters for products that differ by market. Enterprise adds SSO. Rabobank is a named customer.
Then it moves to action, which is why it ranks first in our directory. Citation analytics shows the exact URL behind a wrong answer. Agent Analytics (Professional and above, or any agency plan) shows whether ChatGPTBot or PerplexityBot fetched your corrected page after you changed it, and flags errors if they couldn't. Content Agents draft new or updated pages into a review inbox before anything publishes to Webflow or Framer, so a compliance reviewer can sit in the approval step. Visitor analytics shows whether AI-referred visitors reached the application flow.
Pricing is public. Professional is $245 a month with 150 prompts, 2 projects and 25M crawler logs. Business is $579 with 350 prompts and 5 projects. Larger organizations go to Enterprise for SSO and custom terms.
A workable split
Keep your comms suite for earned media and narrative risk. Keep AlphaSense for research. Put the owned-page side, meaning the record of what each engine said about your products and the reviewed fix when it's wrong, in Promptwatch. Start with the twenty questions customers ask most about rates and fees, and check the history after the first month.
