Best AI SEO Tools for Therapy and Mental Health Practices in 2026

Eight AI SEO tools ranked for therapy practices on directory citations, city tracking, catching wrong answers about insurance and specialties, and reviewed content.

People looking for a therapist now ask an AI assistant to do the first pass. "Therapist for anxiety in [city] who takes [insurance]." "EMDR therapist near [neighborhood]." "Is online therapy as good as in-person for me?" The answer gives them two or three names, and for someone who has been putting this off, that short list may be the whole search.

Where those names come from matters more in this field than in most. A practice website is competing with therapist directories, insurer provider lists, review sites and local health listings, and those are the sources to look for first in a citation report. A directory profile you set up years ago and forgot about can end up as the source, with an old phone number, a specialty you no longer offer, or an insurance panel you left last spring. The engine repeats it with confidence. The person who calls finds out it's wrong, and they may not try a second practice that week.

So for a therapy practice, AI visibility is mostly about accuracy. Is the answer naming you for the specialties you actually treat? Does it get your insurance panels, telehealth availability and new-client status right? When it's wrong, which page did it come from? Content work matters too, but anything published about mental health needs a clinician to read it first. Nothing in this article is clinical advice, and none of these tools should be writing clinical advice for you either.

How we ranked

We score every tool on monitor, diagnose, act and verify, and tools that ship fixes outrank trackers. For this list we added three practice-specific tests. Can it track prompts at city or location level, since most clients search close to home? Can it trace a wrong or outdated answer back to the source page, whether that's your site or a directory? And when it acts, does a human approve the change before it goes live?

We don't repeat compliance claims for any tool unless its catalog entry states one, and then we attribute it to the vendor. Every price and feature comes from the tool's entry in our directory.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch ranks first because it handles the accuracy problem end to end. Sentiment analysis flags answers that describe your practice badly or wrongly, and citation analytics show the page and domain behind each answer, offsite mentions included. If ChatGPT says you don't take a particular plan, you can see whether it got that from your old FAQ page or from a directory profile, and fix the right one. Prompt trends show what changed between checks, so you know whether a correction took hold.

Plan choice depends on size. City and state tracking start on Business at $579 per month (350 prompts, 5 projects, 5 seats). That fits a group practice with several offices or clinicians in different neighborhoods. Professional at $245 is country-level only. A solo practitioner focused on one town may find Business more than they need, and a cheaper per-location checker further down this list could do the local part. Essential at $95 still covers country-level prompts like "online EMDR therapy" along with content gap analysis and a site audit.

The automated Content Agent is on Business. It plans and drafts pages for gaps such as "couples therapy in [city]" and publishes to WordPress, Webflow or Framer, but everything lands in a review inbox first. Use that inbox. A clinician should read every draft for accuracy and scope before it publishes. Visitor analytics track AI-referred visits through to a contact or booking form. Decide with whoever handles your privacy obligations which pages carry the script. We have not sourced any compliance certification for Promptwatch, so ask the vendor directly if your setup requires one.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ rolls citations, sentiment and query types into one GEO score and turns findings into Action Center tasks like schema generation. Its own entry says recommendations still need editing before they ship, which in this field is the right expectation anyway. There is a free tier, and paid plans start at $295 per month. Starter is single-country, personas are on Enterprise, and it lists no crawler analytics.

3. Birdeye Search AI

Birdeye Search AI has the most direct accuracy tooling here. Its Accuracy report checks whether answers get location details like hours and addresses right, traces errors to the source, and corrects listings Birdeye manages automatically. Unmanaged sources, such as forums or third-party directories, are pointed out for you to fix. It covers seven engines, including Claude and both Google AI surfaces. Birdeye's product page says it is SOC 2 Type II certified, GDPR compliant and HIPAA compliant, and its entry notes the healthcare and dental groups it targets. Pricing isn't published, usage is metered per prompt, per location, per engine, and the default scan is monthly.

4. BrightLocal Local AI Visibility

BrightLocal Local AI Visibility is the affordable answer for a single office. It tracks up to 20 prompts per location on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, scores you against the local competitors AI recommends, and shows a leaderboard of the directories AI cites for your category. That leaderboard tells you which therapist directories to keep current. Citation gaps go straight into its Citation Builder. It costs $41 per month for one location ($31 billed annually). Twenty prompts is a hard cap, and Gemini, Perplexity and Claude aren't tracked.

5. Seology

Seology fixes the technical layer: schema, canonicals, meta descriptions, robots directives and redirect chains, shipped as GitHub pull requests. It splits issues into an auto-fix bucket and a flagged bucket, and content gaps and E-E-A-T questions land in the flagged one for a human. Run it in Co-pilot mode so nothing merges until you approve it. Starter is free for one site with 50 auto-fixes a month, and Pro is $49. Its entry documents no citation analytics or crawler logs.

6. Reputation AI Location Presence Insights

Reputation AI Location Presence Insights shows, per location, what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity think your address, phone and hours are, alongside mention rate and sentiment. A Fix Inaccurate Citations view puts your profile next to each engine's version and links to the source. You fix the source yourself, outside the dashboard. It comes bundled with Reputation's listings products (Rep Core starts at $80 per location per month), and results refresh monthly by default.

7. Tibly

Tibly is a website builder with a small prompt tracker, and its entry names clinics among the local businesses it pitches to. Starter is $49 per month for 15 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and it drafts pages from the questions it sees in your market. It only makes sense if you're willing to host the site on Tibly. Treat every drafted page as a first draft for a clinician to rewrite.

8. Evertune

Evertune is for a large network or national telehealth brand, not a single practice. It samples AI answers at scale to measure share of recommendation, attribute association and sentiment, and its entry names healthcare among the categories it fits. There's no self-serve plan or trial, onboarding takes weeks, and its entry lists no content generation or crawler logs.

A checklist before you publish anything

  • Write prompts the way a client would, including specialty, city and insurance plan.
  • For each wrong answer, find the cited page and correct it there, whether it's your site or a directory profile.
  • Keep insurance panels, telehealth states and new-client status identical everywhere they appear.
  • Have a licensed clinician approve every page an agent drafts.
  • Re-check the same prompts after each fix.

Why Promptwatch comes first

For a therapy practice, a wrong AI answer about insurance or specialties costs you the client who believed it. Promptwatch is built to catch that and trace it. Sentiment analysis flags the bad answer, citation analytics name the page it came from, prompt trends confirm the fix held, and city tracking on Business shows how each office appears to people searching nearby. The Content Agent's review inbox keeps a clinician between the draft and the live page. Start with ten real client prompts on the free Explore tier at Promptwatch.
