Best generative engine optimization software in 2026: ranked and compared

The best generative engine optimization software in 2026, ranked: Promptwatch, AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI, Profound and more, with sourced pricing and who each suits.

Generative engine optimization software falls into two groups. Monitors tell you whether AI engines name your brand. Platforms also show why, and help you change it. Most of the products below sit somewhere between those poles, and the useful comparison is how far each one goes beyond a dashboard.

This ranking weighs breadth (monitoring, citations, crawler data, traffic, content), pricing transparency and fit for different buyers. Prices and limits come from each vendor's page as we last read it, mostly on 24 October 2026. Check the live page before buying.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the end-to-end option. It monitors prompts daily per model, country and language (Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment, Position in Answer), reports citations at page and domain level, logs AI crawlers with IP verification, attributes AI-referred visits and conversions, and generates and publishes content. The Action Board turns the data into a prioritized to-do list, and Agent Chat works as a conversational analyst over live data. It also folds in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data through Search Insights.

Plans: free Explore (10 prompts, ChatGPT only), Essential $95 a month, Professional $245, Business $579. Agency plans run $199, $399 and $799 a month. Crawler logs start on Professional, and the automated Content Agent starts on Business.

Best for: teams that want measurement and action in one platform. Limits: the free plan is narrow, and the full feature set sits on Professional and above.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ tracks brand presence, produces a GEO score and turns gaps into tasks in an Action Center, with a content optimization agent. Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits, 11 models and country-level support. A free Essential tier gives 300 credits. Citation Engine, SSO and persona targeting are on Enterprise. Best for: teams that want an action workflow and have the budget. Limits: credit-based usage, and key features gated to Enterprise.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI combines monitoring with an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers. Core is $250 a month for 125 unique prompts and 5,000 responses a month across four LLMs, with Enterprise adding nine LLMs, AXP and API access. Best for: teams interested in crawler-side delivery. Limits: reporting depth and the move to Enterprise for the headline features.

4. Profound

Profound markets itself as an enterprise AI marketer, with agents for research, content, reporting and workflows beside its Answer Engine Insights. Enterprise tracks up to nine answer engines and is custom priced, around $40k a year by an earlier estimate. There is a free 7-day trial with a fixed prompt set. Best for: large enterprises that want agents across marketing, not only AI search tracking. Limits: sales-led pricing and a short trial.

5. Goodie AI

Goodie AI runs a closed-loop AEO platform with agents that write content, fix technical signals and do outreach. Core is $295 a month for five models and 110 prompts, and Pro is $999 for eight models and 250 prompts. Best for: teams that want agents and have budget. Limits: a higher price band, and it does not say which billing period its prices use.

6. Gauge

Gauge offers Growth at $599 a month for 600 prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, with 18 articles a month. Best for: teams that want daily volume and a content engine. Limits: three platforms on Growth and a high entry price.

7. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts with paid Ahrefs plans on a daily quota, and the AI Visibility Index starts at $199 a month. Best for: teams already inside Ahrefs.

8. Semrush AI Toolkit

Semrush AI Toolkit is an add-on tracking AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, listed at $99 a month per domain in our entry. We could not confirm that against the vendor page on 24 October 2026. Best for: Semrush shops. Limits: costs stack per domain, user and prompt.

9. HubSpot AEO

HubSpot AEO is $50 a month ($45 yearly) for 25 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and it is included in Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise. Best for: HubSpot teams on a small budget. Limits: three engines, no published crawler logs or visitor conversions.

10. Agentic content tools

Okara ships technical SEO and GEO fixes as GitHub pull requests, from $129 a month on AI CMO Lite. Outrank is $99 a month for 30 articles on autopilot. SEObot starts at $49 a month for 9 articles. These produce fixes or content, not visibility measurement, so they work best beside a tracker and never replace one.

How to choose

You want one platform for measurement and action: Promptwatch.

You want an action workflow and can budget $295 a month: AthenaHQ.

You are an enterprise buying agents across marketing: Profound.

You already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush or HubSpot: try that vendor's AI module first, and move to a dedicated platform if you need crawler logs, traffic attribution or content.

You need to ship content or code fixes: add an agentic tool, but pair it with a tracker.

What no GEO software can do

None of these tools can guarantee that an AI engine will recommend you. Answers vary from run to run, and each platform samples. What they can do is show a trend, name the sources, and point to what is missing. Buy on that basis and test with your own prompts during a trial.
