Gemmetric review (2026): Fix Packs that tell you what to change, not a tool that changes it

Gemmetric scores how AI understands your site and hands you evidence-linked Fix Packs, from a free Snapshot to $249/mo Pro. It never edits your site. When that is enough, and when not.

Gemmetric is a diagnosis tool. It doesn't try to track hundreds of prompts. It asks a different question: can AI systems understand your business at all, and if not, why? The answer comes as a score, a set of findings that each link to their evidence, and packaged implementation guidance called Fix Packs. Your team then makes the changes. Gemmetric doesn't touch the site, and says so plainly.

On this site's scale that makes it a recommender, a careful one. It is made by Gemmetric LLC in Birmingham, Alabama, and launched on Product Hunt in April 2026. The best fit is a local or single-site business that knows AI describes it vaguely and wants a prioritized list of reasons. Agencies that sell GEO audits are the second audience.

How the score is built

Gemmetric rates a site on four layers. GEO checks whether the site is readable for AI. GEM checks whether outside sources corroborate what the site claims. AI Perception looks at how models recognize and describe the business. AI Identity asks whether there is one clear definition of it. The four blend into an AI Visibility Score.

That split between on-site problems (structure, schema, copy) and off-site ones (nobody else backs up your claims) is the most useful idea in the product. A small business deciding whether to spend the next month on its own pages or on getting mentioned elsewhere gets a real steer.

A beta feature called Citation Presence checks a reviewed panel of buyer questions and records whether answers cite or mention you, re-measured on a 30-day cycle on Pro and up. Gemmetric also runs its own crawler, GemmetricBot, which is listed in Cloudflare's Verified Bot Directory.

What you pay

Prices were read on gemmetric.ai/pricing on 20 October 2026.

What it does well

Every finding links back to the page, source or scan behind it. That sounds like a small thing until you've used a tool that hands you a score of 62 and no reason. Gemmetric also labels its scores as directional rather than presenting them as precise, which is the honest framing for anything built on AI answers.

The free Snapshot needs no sales call, so you can see the style of output before paying. For agencies, the Prospect Audits are a ready sales artifact: run one on a prospect's site and you have something concrete to put in the pitch.

What to check first

The product and pricing pages don't say which AI engines Gemmetric queries. Only the Product Hunt listing names ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Confirm coverage before you buy.

Starter at $79 leaves out the parts most people would expect to pay for: the AI Visibility Score itself, AI Perception and monitoring all start on Pro. Citation Presence is a beta measured every 30 days, not a daily tracker, and there are no published prompt counts, per-engine breakdowns or share-of-voice trends. Agency plans start at $699 for three client domains, which is steep if you only need audits for a handful of clients.

Where it falls short against a full platform

Gemmetric is built to explain why AI misreads you. It isn't built to tell you how often you are recommended across hundreds of buyer questions on each engine, and its own materials suggest pairing it with a prompt tracker if that is what your team gets asked.

The other gap is the one this site always looks for. A Fix Pack is a good brief, but someone still has to implement it, and after that you wait up to 30 days for Citation Presence to show whether it helped. Nothing in the loop writes the page, publishes it, or shows an AI crawler fetching the new version.

When Promptwatch is the better buy

Compare the mid tiers: Gemmetric Pro is $249 a month and Promptwatch Professional is $245. Professional tracks 150 prompts daily with search volumes, difficulty scores and query fan-outs, so you see movement within a day rather than a month. Citation analytics shows which pages, domains, Reddit threads and YouTube videos the engines cite. Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and other AI crawlers fetching your updated pages, with a crawl-to-citation path, and visitor analytics ties the resulting sessions to conversions.

Promptwatch also does part of the implementing. Content Agents run a gap analysis and publish drafts to WordPress, Webflow or Framer through a review inbox, 15 AEO articles a month on Professional. They write content; they don't rewrite your schema the way a Fix Pack tells you to. A small business that wants the four-layer diagnosis can run the free Snapshot alongside Promptwatch and get both.

Verdict

Gemmetric is a careful, evidence-first diagnostic that's honest about being directional, and the on-site versus off-site split is useful. It is thin as a measurement layer and does none of the work itself. Take the free Snapshot for the diagnosis. For the tracking and publishing that prove the fixes worked, Promptwatch is the better buy.

FAQ

Does Gemmetric change my website?

No. It produces Fix Packs and recommendations; your team reviews and publishes the changes, then re-scans to compare.

Which AI engines does Gemmetric check?

Its product and pricing pages don't list them. The Product Hunt listing names ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity.

Is the free Snapshot enough?

For a first look, yes. It covers up to 10 pages, twice per 30 days. The score, AI Perception and monitoring need Pro. For ongoing prompt tracking, compare plans on promptwatch.com.
