How do I track if my brand is showing up in Perplexity and Gemini answers?
Track a fixed set of buyer prompts in Perplexity and Gemini, log mentions and sources, and automate it. Here is the method and the tools that cover both engines.
Start by tracking the same prompts every time
To find out whether your brand shows up in Perplexity and Gemini, you need a fixed list of the questions your buyers ask, a way to run them repeatedly, and a log of what comes back. One-off checks mislead, because assistants can word an answer differently each time they are asked. A trend across many prompts and many days is the useful signal, not a single screenshot.
Two details people trip over. First, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode are different surfaces, even though they come from the same company. Decide which ones matter to you and track them separately. Second, Perplexity shows its sources prominently, which makes it a good place to learn what gets cited, but your own brand may be mentioned without being linked.
The manual method (free, and worth doing once)
- Write 20 to 30 prompts across three types: category questions ("best tools for X"), comparisons ("A vs B"), and brand questions ("what is [your brand], is it any good").
- Ask each in Perplexity and Gemini, ideally in a clean session without personalization.
- Record whether you are mentioned, where in the answer, how you are described, and which sources are cited.
- Repeat weekly for a month and compare.
This works as a first pass and teaches you what to look for. It does not scale. At 30 prompts across two engines, a weekly run is 60 manual checks, and the log becomes a spreadsheet nobody wants to maintain. It also cannot cover other countries or languages without extra effort.
What a tracking platform adds
- Automation and cadence. Daily runs instead of whenever someone remembers.
- Trend lines. Visibility score, share of voice, position in the answer, over time.
- Source analysis. Which pages and domains each answer cited.
- Competitor context. Who appears when you do not.
- Location and language control. The same prompt, run as if asked from a specific country.
What to check on any platform
Not every tool covers both engines on its entry plan. Check these before buying:
- Does the plan include Perplexity and Gemini, or is one a paid add-on?
- Does it use the real product interface or an API approximation?
- How often does the data refresh?
- Can you see sources, not just mention counts?
How the platforms compare on Perplexity and Gemini

| Scrunch AI | Yes on Core | Not in Core's four LLMs | Gemini needs a higher tier | $250 (Core) |
| LLM Pulse | Core engine | Core engine | Weekly tracking, daily costs more | €49 weekly, €79 daily |

Promptwatch is where we would start. It monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI, and runs prompt panels daily per model, country and language. Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer are reported per engine, so you can see that you are strong in Perplexity and weak in Gemini, or the reverse. Citation analytics show the pages and domains cited in each answer. Competitor heatmaps compare any two dimensions, such as brand against model.
It also covers what happens after the mention. Visitor analytics tracks AI-referred traffic and conversions from Perplexity, Gemini and others through a lightweight script, GTM template or the WordPress plugin. Agent Analytics shows IP-verified AI crawler logs, including PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User, plus Google-Agent and GoogleOther, with a crawl-to-citation path and error tracking. Crawler logs start on the Professional plan ($245 a month).
AthenaHQ is the next choice for teams that want an action queue. Its Starter plan covers 11 models (our listing does not itemize them, so confirm Perplexity and Gemini), but it is credit-based and country-level, and its catalog entry lists no crawler-log product.
Scrunch AI includes Perplexity on Core but not Gemini, which sits in the top tier. It offers bot traffic reporting.
LLM Pulse covers both Perplexity and Gemini on every plan and publishes transparent euro pricing, a good fit for small teams comfortable with weekly cadence on the cheaper tier.
Rankscale lists both engines and pairs tracking with page audits at a low entry price, though credit math takes attention.
Ahrefs Brand Radar suits teams already inside Ahrefs.
Profound is an enterprise marketing-agent platform, with Enterprise contracts starting around $40,000 a year per our existing entry.
Reading the numbers without fooling yourself
- Use the same prompts over time. Changing the list resets your trend.
- Look at share across many prompts, not one answer.
- Separate Gemini from AI Overviews and AI Mode.
- Check the cited sources. If a competitor's comparison page keeps getting cited, that page is your real competitor.
- Do not promise a number. No tool guarantees you will be mentioned. Tracking shows what changed and what to fix.
