Synup AEO review (2026): a monthly AI check per location inside a local suite

Synup AEO gives each location a monthly AI visibility report from 16 local prompts, bundled with listings and reviews from $49/mo. Useful for franchises, light on data.

Synup AEO is the AI visibility module, labelled beta, inside Synup's local marketing platform. The platform also handles listings, reviews, social posts, local rank grids and landing pages, all driven by an agent called Sydekick. AEO adds a monthly report per location on how AI engines answer local discovery questions.

Judged by how much work it takes off your plate, Synup is a split case. The AEO report itself monitors and recommends fixes. The surrounding suite is where things get done: the agent can work on the listings and review fixes the report points to. What it does not do is write or publish website content for AI answers, and the measurement it acts on is a small monthly sample.

Everything below was read on Synup's pricing, product and help center pages on 20 October 2026.

How a report is built

You click Generate Report for a location after a screen shows the credit estimate (240 credits when the help article was written). Synup then writes 16 local discovery prompts that name the category and the city but not the business: best, top-rated, affordable, specific services, open now. Each engine answers every prompt, and the report is ready a few minutes later. After that it refreshes monthly.

The report gives a 0 to 100 AI Visibility score, a prompt-by-engine coverage grid, competitor gaps, a rank-tier breakdown, sentiment phrases, recommended fixes and citation coverage split into active, detected but not cited, and missing sources. It can be shared as a read-only public link, and white-labelled from Premium.

The help center is unusually candid about the score. It is a rank score only: whether the business was named and how near the top. Ratings, review counts and listings do not feed it, even though a factors panel with reviews and citations sits right below. Synup says a location scoring 81 next to a reviews factor of 0 is not a contradiction, which is worth knowing before a client asks.

What you get per plan

Plans are priced by location, and every plan includes every feature.

PlanPriceLocationsCredits a monthOther
Solo$49/mo120,0001 parallel agent chat, shared environment, no white-label
Premium$299/moUp to 10200,0003 parallel chats, white-label

Annual billing saves 20%. The 14-day trial covers Solo only, so a paid Premium subscription is charged straight away. There is an API and a native MCP server across the platform.

Credits are shared across the whole platform. AEO reports draw from the same pool as review replies, social posts and listing updates, and when credits run out, agent work pauses until you buy more blocks.

What works

For an agency or franchise that already wants Synup for listings and reviews, the AEO report costs little extra effort. Every location gets a report on the same schedule, the prompts are generated for you, and the coverage grid and citation split show at a glance which locations are absent and which directories matter. White-label and a client portal from Premium make it presentable to clients.

The prompts are unbranded, the right test for local discovery.

What to check before paying

Reports are monthly snapshots, and there is no customer-facing control to regenerate the current month. If you fix a listing on the 3rd, you wait for next month's run.

The 16 prompts per location are written by Synup. The pages we read do not describe adding your own.

The engine list is inconsistent. The product page FAQ names ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, while the help center describes reports on three engines. Ask which ones your account will get.

And the credit numbers need checking. Allowances are shown "quadrupled for launch" and guaranteed only for accounts created on or before 30 September, so a new account should confirm its real allowance.

Where it falls short of a full AI visibility platform

Sixteen fixed prompts on three or four engines, once a month, shows direction. It does not show what changed between runs, which pages the engines read, or what an AI recommendation did for the business. The pages we read describe no view of AI crawlers on the location's website and no tie from an AI-referred visit to a booking or call.

When Promptwatch is the better buy

If the website matters as much as the listings, Promptwatch is the better tool for the AI part. You write the prompts yourself, with search volumes, difficulty and personas, and they refresh daily on paid plans. City and state tracking start on Professional, so a multi-location brand can track "best dentist in Leeds" and "best dentist in York" as separate questions. Citation analytics show which pages, domains, Reddit threads and YouTube videos the engines cite per prompt.

Promptwatch also covers the site side. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits with a crawl-to-citation path and error tracking, and visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to conversions. When a page is missing, Content Agents write it and publish it to WordPress, Webflow or Framer after review.

Professional is $245 a month: 2 projects, 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 1M visitor events, 25M crawler logs and 15 AEO articles. Agencies running many locations or clients should look at Kick-off ($199 a month) or Growth ($399 a month), both with unlimited projects and prompts and city tracking. A reasonable split is Synup for listings and reviews, Promptwatch for AI search.

Verdict

Synup AEO suits an agency or franchise that already runs Synup. As AI visibility measurement it is a monthly sample of 16 prompts that you do not control. For daily data, your own prompts, crawler logs and published content, use Promptwatch.

FAQ

How often does Synup refresh AI visibility?

Monthly. Locations with a report refresh on a monthly schedule, and there is no customer-facing button to regenerate the current month.

How much does a Synup AEO report cost?

Reports use credits from the plan's monthly allowance. The help center says the first-run screen showed 240 credits per report; the screen in your account is the authority if that changes.
