What are the best AI visibility tools for measuring share of voice? (2026 comparison)

What are the best AI visibility tools for measuring share of voice? We compare methodology, competitor coverage, engines and published prices across 2026's main tools.

Share of voice sounds like a single number. In AI search it is a family of numbers, and two tools that both report "share of voice" can disagree by a wide margin on the same brand. The difference lies in how the number is built: which prompts, which engines, which competitors, and what counts as a mention.

So when you compare tools for measuring share of voice, compare methodology first and the price second. This comparison uses plan data read in late October 2026 and the Promptwatch fact sheet. We do not repeat vendor claims about accuracy that we cannot source.

How AI share of voice is calculated

A common definition: across a fixed panel of prompts, in what share of the answers (or of all brand mentions) does your brand appear, compared with a defined set of competitors? That sounds simple, but five decisions change the result.

  1. The prompt panel. Real buyer questions, or synthetic ones modeled from keyword data. A panel of branded prompts inflates the number.
  2. The competitor set. Share is relative. Add or remove a rival and your share moves.
  3. The engines. A number averaged across four engines hides that you may lead on one and not exist on another.
  4. What counts as a mention. Name variants, product lines, and partial matches.
  5. Weighting. Whether position in the answer matters, or whether all mentions count the same.

A good tool lets you see and control all five.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch reports Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer side by side, so you can see whether share is built on prominent positions or on the tail of a list. Prompt panels run daily per model, country and language, and prompts can be organized by topic, tags, prompt type (organic, brand, competitor comparison) and persona, which lets you report share for organic prompts separately from brand ones. A Brand Book holds the analysis instructions that decide what counts as a mention, and brand aliases and brand merging handle name variants. Competitors can be auto-discovered, and a heatmap compares any two dimensions: brands against models, topics or countries. A/B period comparison shows the change between two windows.

It also explains movement. If share drops, citation analytics and Citation Trends show which sources shifted, crawler logs show whether an engine could still reach the pages, and visitor analytics show whether AI traffic changed with it. Prompt Volumes (search volumes, difficulty and citation rates across AI search, Google and Bing) help you weight prompts that matter. Start on the free Explore plan (ChatGPT only, 10 prompts) or Essential at $95 a month.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ rolls results into a unified GEO score with sentiment analysis, tracks 11 models on Starter at $295 a month and lists unlimited competitors. Credits are metered per AI response, and multi-region support and personas are Enterprise features.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI offers competitor benchmarking on Core at $250 a month with four LLMs, 125 prompts and 5,000 responses. Enterprise raises the engine count to nine.

4. Mentionable

Mentionable shows share of voice per competitor, prompt by prompt, across seven engines from 79 EUR a month excluding tax. Scan credits are shared with audits and generated pages.

5. Ceyo

Ceyo reports Share of Answer per model and per query, captured from the real interfaces of eight engines, with raw responses retained. Plans cap models at two, three or four.

6. Profound and Evertune

Profound reports citation share and answer-level analytics on a custom Enterprise plan, historically estimated around $40k a year, as part of a broader marketing agent product. Evertune is built like market research, analyzing large samples of answers instead of spot checks, with custom pricing. For a brand that needs statistical confidence on perception, it is worth a conversation.

Suite add-ons

Semrush AI Toolkit lists $99 a month per domain with 25 prompts and compares share against competitors next to keyword data. Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts on paid Ahrefs plans and an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month, built from prompts modeled on keyword data, which makes it directional. Brand24 offers AI share of voice as an add-on to social listening, with no published price.

Who should pick which

You want share of voice you can trace to causes and act on: Promptwatch, because the number sits beside citations, crawler logs and visitor analytics.

You want a single score and an action queue, and have an enterprise budget: AthenaHQ.

You need statistical rigor on how AI describes a large brand: Evertune, as a complement to a tracker.

You live in an SEO suite: use the add-on for directional reading and be cautious about the prompt source.

Reading the number honestly

Share of voice is a sample from a panel you chose. Report it with the panel, the engines and the competitor set stated beside it, keep those fixed between periods, and read the trend over weeks. It does not guarantee that anyone will recommend you tomorrow. It shows where you stand and, with the right tool, why.
