Which tools help track visibility in agentic search?

Which tools track visibility in agentic search? We compare AI visibility platforms on prompt tracking, agent and bot traffic, citations and conversions.

Agentic search is what happens when an AI assistant goes off and does the looking for the user: it runs searches, fetches pages, compares options and comes back with an answer or an action. For a brand, that creates two visibility questions instead of one. Does the answer name you? And did the agent actually visit your site to find out?

Most tools only answer the first question. A smaller group also answers the second. That split should drive your shortlist.

What "tracking visibility" means in an agentic setting

There are four things worth tracking.

  1. Mentions and position. Is your brand named in the answer, where, and with what sentiment?
  2. Citations. Which of your pages, or which third-party pages, did the engine use as sources?
  3. Agent and bot visits. Did crawlers such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-User or Perplexity-User fetch your pages, and did they succeed?
  4. Resulting traffic. Did AI-referred visitors arrive, and did they convert?

The user-triggered bots matter in agentic search because they fetch pages in response to a person's request, not on a crawl schedule. Seeing those hits in your logs is the closest thing to watching the agent at work.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch covers all four. Its monitors run prompt panels daily per model, country and language, reporting Visibility Score, Share of Voice, sentiment and position in the answer. Citation analytics show page-level and domain-level citations, offsite mentions, and Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports.

For agent visits, Agent Analytics provides real-time, IP-verified AI crawler logs, so spoofed user agents are filtered out. Tracked bots include GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Google-Agent, Meta-ExternalAgent and MistralAI-User. A crawl-to-citation path shows a citation rate per page, with error tracking and failure explanations.

For traffic, visitor analytics attribute AI-referred visits and conversions. It also tracks coding agents: Codex and Claude Code through real-UI monitoring, plus the OpenCode agent via API, which is useful for developer-tool brands.

Pricing: free Explore tier (ChatGPT only), Essential $95 a month, Professional $245, Business $579. Crawler logs start on Professional. Essential has none.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ tracks visibility across multiple engines, rolls it into a GEO score with sentiment, and turns gaps into assignable tasks. It supports GA4, Shopify and Webflow attribution. Our review notes no crawler analytics, so you would not see agent visits. Free tier, then Starter at $295 a month, with credit-based usage to watch.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI includes AI agent and bot traffic reporting on its Core plan at $250 a month, along with tracking across four LLMs on that tier and an Agent Experience Platform at Enterprise that serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers. Our review notes weekly data refreshes.

4. Profound

Profound pairs Answer Engine Insights with Agent Analytics and a Prompt Volumes dataset. Its most-cited capabilities are Enterprise-gated at a custom price that starts around $40k a year, per our review. It is more of an enterprise marketing-agent platform than a tracker.

5. Ahrefs Brand Radar and Semrush AI Toolkit

Ahrefs Brand Radar reports on AI crawler activity alongside mention and citation data, with the AI Visibility Index from $199 a month on top of an Ahrefs plan. Our review calls its numbers directional. Semrush AI Toolkit is a $99 a month per-domain add-on, with no crawler-log product published.

Who should pick which

Pick Promptwatch if you need to see both the answer and the agent behind it, with traffic at the end. Pick AthenaHQ if you value an action queue more than crawler data. Pick Scrunch AI if bot reporting plus crawler-side serving appeals. Pick Profound only with an enterprise budget. Ahrefs and Semrush suit teams who want to stay inside their existing suite and accept thinner AI-specific data.

Limits to keep in mind

No tool sees every agent session, and none can tell you why a given user got a given answer. Treat crawler logs as evidence of access, not proof of selection. And do not expect any platform to guarantee a mention.

Set up Promptwatch first if you want the full chain in one place, then add specialist tools only where you see a gap.
