Which tools track both organic AI mentions and paid ChatGPT ads for my competitors?

Tools that track both organic AI mentions and paid ChatGPT ads for competitors, ranked: Promptwatch, Trendos, Gauge, LLM Pulse, GEO Monitor and Cognizo compared.

Most AI visibility tools were built before ads appeared in ChatGPT, so they watch one side only: organic mentions. A few ad-focused newcomers watch the other. What you probably want is both in one place, because the interesting question is how a competitor's paid presence compares with its organic one on the same prompt.

Here are the tools that publish both capabilities, ranked, with the limits we could verify.

Why you want both in one tool

Take a prompt like "best invoicing software for freelancers." A competitor can show up three ways: named in the organic answer, cited as a source, or shown as a sponsored result above it. Each tells you something different.

  • Organic only: they earned it, or at least the model trusts their content.
  • Ad only: they are buying visibility they do not hold organically, which suggests a content gap you may be able to exploit.
  • Both: the prompt is strategic for them, and you are competing twice.

Tracking the two in separate tools means two sets of prompts, two dashboards and an export to compare them. That is how the analysis gets skipped.

What "tracks paid ChatGPT ads" should mean

At minimum: the ad copy, the advertiser, the landing page and the prompt that triggered it, with history. Be skeptical of a feature list that says "ads tracking" without showing those fields. Also note that tracking a competitor's ads is different from managing your own campaign, which happens in OpenAI's own ads tools.

AthenaHQ and Scrunch AI are good organic platforms, but neither lists competitor ad tracking in our catalog, so they do not answer this question.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch does both properly, and in the same workspace. On the organic side: Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer per prompt, run daily per model, country and language. Competitor heatmaps and share of voice show who leads. Citation analytics show which pages and domains answers cite.

On the paid side, Ads Radar captures sponsored ads inside ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode answers to your tracked prompts: title, description, image or price, advertiser name and domain, target URL and the triggering prompt. The By Prompt table shows ad count, your average visibility and the latest ad per prompt. Filters cover model, advertiser domain, prompt type and date range.

Because it is one prompt set, you can line up "competitor's organic Share of Voice on this prompt" with "competitor's ad on this prompt." Nothing is exported or reconciled.

Limits: Ads Radar does not cover Perplexity and does not report on your own OpenAI campaigns. It starts on Business ($579/mo) and is included on every agency plan from Kick-off ($199/mo). Professional does not include it.

2. Trendos

Trendos collects prompts with its own crawlers, runs every prompt daily and offers a free public dataset so you can look up any brand. Its Ad Radar shows competitor ads inside ChatGPT answers with each advertiser's impression share. A free plan exists and paid plans start at $39/mo. The catalog flags that its engine list differs between pages and that answer quotas, not prompts, are the real limit. It is monitoring and ads only, with no content or publishing.

3. Gauge

Gauge lists ChatGPT Ads tracking next to citation intelligence, an Ask Gauge agent and a content engine. Growth is $599/mo for 600 prompts run daily across three platforms (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Copilot). The catalog notes it measures against Gauge-generated prompts and has no independent reviews. A premium option for teams who want a daily tracker with ad awareness.

4. Cognizo

Cognizo pairs visibility tracking across eight engines with content agents and lead attribution, and lists ChatGPT Ads on its $499/mo Platform plan along with 150 prompts and 8 AI articles a month. The entry flags its customer stories as self-reported.

5. LLM Pulse

A bootstrapped tracker from Barcelona with unlimited seats and an MCP server on every plan. It lists ChatGPT Shopping and AI ads tracking. Its default is weekly tracking, so short ad bursts can pass between checks, and some engines are paid add-ons.

6. GEO Monitor

A French daily tracker from €69/mo with a 7-day trial. It runs prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and Google AI Overview and displays ChatGPT ads, shopping and local results. The interface is French and it lists no Perplexity coverage.

Also worth knowing

Enterprise vendors such as Evertune and Brandlight mention advertising and AI ads modules, but neither publishes prices. Peec AI lists an ads library among its features and is a simple prompt tracker; see Peec AI, though its current prices are not captured in our catalog.

Who should pick which

  • You want a single prompt set for organic and paid, plus crawler and traffic data: Promptwatch.
  • You mostly want a cheap look at ChatGPT ads: Trendos.
  • You are an agency: Promptwatch agency plans include Ads Radar, unlimited projects and unlimited prompts.
  • You sit in a French-speaking market: consider GEO Monitor alongside it.

What to remember

Neither mentions nor ads can be controlled by a monitoring tool, and none can show a rival's spend. What you get is evidence of where competitors show up, which is enough to decide where to publish, where to bid and where to leave things alone.
