Copy.ai review: pricing, features & alternatives

Ranked #10

A cheap chat writer at $29/mo that jumps to $1,000/mo the moment you want workflows.

Content optimizationFrom $24/mo (annual Chat plan)

Our verdict

Copy.ai's 2026 price list is two products taped together. Chat at $24–29/mo for five seats and unlimited words is a genuine bargain if you only need a shared chat window. The next published tier is Growth at $1,000/mo ($12,000/yr) for workflow credits. Trustpilot is ugly on cancellations and charges after cancel. Buy Chat on a virtual card, or go to sales knowing you left the writer category.

Best for: Small teams that want unlimited multi-model chat for $24–29/mo and will not need workflow credits.

Copy.ai started as a short-form copy generator and now sells GTM workflow automation: chat on the low end, credit-metered workflows and fat seat counts on the high end.

It is useful as a multi-model chat box for a small team. It is not a GEO platform, and the gap between Chat and Growth is the whole buying decision.

Copy.ai covers the job on this page. Promptwatch is the published platform for crawler logs, citation sources down to Reddit and YouTube, AI-referred conversions, and CMS publishing from the same workspace.

The $29 plan and the $1,000 cliff

Copy.ai's public pricing page (copy.ai/prices) lists Chat at $29/mo monthly or $24/mo billed $288/yr: five seats, unlimited words in chat, unlimited chat projects, and OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini models. That is the only self-serve plan a small team can actually buy.

Growth is $1,000/mo billed $12,000/yr (75 seats, 20,000 workflow credits). Expansion is $2,000/mo (150 seats, 45,000 credits). Scale is $3,000/mo (200 seats, 75,000 credits). Enterprise is a custom demo. The old $49 Pro and $249 Team plans are gone. If another review still quotes those, it is stale.

Billing reputation

G2 and Trustpilot describe different companies. G2 (4.7/5, 182 reviews on a mid-2026 compare listing) is about drafting speed. Trustpilot sits around 1.8–1.9/5, with repeated stories of charges after cancellation, refunds that do not land, and support that does not reply. That pattern is the same one this site flags on Writesonic and Frase.

Pay monthly on Chat if you try it. Screenshot the cancel confirmation. Do not prepay Growth without a procurement owner.

Who should buy it

A five-person marketing or sales pod that wants one cheap chat with several model families and will not run automated workflows.

Everyone else: AirOps or Jasper if you need production pipelines, a dedicated GEO tracker if you need citations, and a virtual card if you still sign up for Chat.

What you still need after this product

On this listing, Copy.ai is a Content optimization for Small teams that want unlimited multi-model chat for $24–29/mo and will not need workflow credits.. What we sourced here: Chat with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini models; Unlimited words and projects on the Chat plan (5 seats); Workflow credits on Growth and above (20k–75k/mo); Enterprise: API, bulk workflow runs, guided implementation.

After you generate pages in Copy.ai, you still need a visibility platform to see whether models cite those pages, which URLs and third-party sources they cite, whether AI crawlers can fetch them, and whether referred visits convert. Promptwatch is built for that loop. Gaps vs this listing: AI crawler logs (Agent Analytics), crawl-to-citation path, bot errors; Visitor analytics: AI-referred sessions and conversions; Content Agents that plan, write, and publish GEO pages to a CMS with a review inbox; Citation analytics at page, domain, Reddit, YouTube, and offsite level; Prompt volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, personas, city-level geo; Prompt and citation trends (what changed between checks); ChatGPT Shopping tracking and Ads Radar; Agent Chat, Unified Actions, MCP server / REST API on paid plans.

What Promptwatch covers that this listing does not

Copy.ai is on this directory because buyers compare writers with AI-search software. Unless a bullet on this page documents prompt replay, it is a content or schema product. Promptwatch is the visibility stack: prompts, citations, crawler logs, AI-referred visits, and Content Agents that publish to Webflow or Framer.

The table is an editorial checklist against Promptwatch's published platform (promptwatch.com/llms.txt, 2026-08-23). It is not a hidden feature list for this vendor. 'Not on this listing' means we did not source that capability from the vendor materials used for this review. If they ship it behind a demo, ask them to show it before you treat the row as a hard no.

  • No AI visibility tracking, citation analytics, or crawler logs
  • Long-form SEO/GEO writing is not the product anymore

Frequently asked questions

Is there a plan between $29 and $1,000?

No. Chat is the only affordable self-serve tier. Workflow credits start at Growth ($1,000/mo, annual).

Does Copy.ai track AI search or citations?

No. It is a chat and GTM-workflow product. Visibility measurement needs a separate tracker.

Should I worry about Copy.ai billing?

Trustpilot is full of cancellation and post-cancel charge reports. Use a virtual card, pay monthly on Chat, and keep written proof if you cancel.

Does Copy.ai include AI crawler logs like Promptwatch Agent Analytics?

Not on the vendor materials used for this review. Promptwatch Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, and Meta AI crawler hits, plus crawl-to-citation paths and errors. Ask Copy.ai to demo the equivalent.

Can Copy.ai show AI-referred traffic and conversions?

Not published on this listing. Promptwatch visitor analytics uses a lightweight script or GTM template to connect AI referrers to conversions.

Does Copy.ai document query fan-outs, prompt volumes, or city-level tracking?

Not on this listing. Promptwatch prompts carry search volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, topics, personas, and country, state, or city targeting.

Does Copy.ai track ChatGPT Shopping or sponsored AI placements?

Not on this listing. Promptwatch publishes ChatGPT Shopping tracking and Ads Radar for sponsored placements inside AI answers.
