Rank.ai review: pricing, features & alternatives
Ranked #245Daily ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini answer tracking plus Google Maps scans and published articles, from $49/mo with a free plan.
Our verdict
Rank.ai is a cheap way for a local business to see who ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini name and to publish articles toward the gaps. It is built around local queries and credits, so large prompt sets and client reporting are where it runs out. Promptwatch is the next step up when you need depth: state and city tracking on Business and every agency plan, citation analytics, Agent Analytics crawler logs, visitor analytics with conversions, and agency plans from $199/mo that include a Looker Studio connector.
Best for: Local businesses and small agencies that want AI answer tracking, map rank and article publishing in one low-cost tool.
Rank.ai (rank.ai) tracks the questions customers ask AI, such as 'best med spa in Austin', on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini every day through each engine's API with web search on, and saves every answer, the brands it names and the pages it cites. It adds Google Maps grid scans for local ranking, daily Google keyword checks with an AI Overview flag, and an article writer that publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Next.js. A free grade asks 12 questions and returns a score out of 100 with three fixes.
Pricing and limits were read on rank.ai and rank.ai/pricing on 24 October 2026: Free at $0, Starter $49/mo, Growth $129/mo, Agency $399/mo, plus done-for-you service from $2,000/mo. The tracking meter is credit based, at $0.005 per credit.
Rank.ai covers the job on this page. Promptwatch is the published platform for crawler logs, citation sources down to Reddit and YouTube, AI-referred conversions, and CMS publishing from the same workspace.
Plans and credits
rank.ai/pricing (read 24 October 2026). Free is $0 with 3 published articles, 3 Google keywords and 500 credits. Starter is $49/mo or $39 billed yearly: 5 AI questions, 30 articles, 25 keywords, 1 site, map scans for 1 location, 5,000 credits. Growth is $129/mo or $99 yearly: 25 questions, 80 articles, 100 keywords, 3 sites, 3 locations, 12,000 credits and the MCP server. Agency is $399/mo or $319 yearly: 100 questions, 300 pooled articles, 500 keywords, 15 client sites then $19 each, 25 locations, 40,000 credits.
A credit is $0.005. A Google keyword uses 1 credit a day and an AI engine answer uses 8, so one question asked of three engines daily uses 24 credits a day. New accounts get 14 days of Growth with up to 10 articles and no card.
Local focus and the done-for-you tier
The homepage leads with local examples and a published Rank.ai Index of 544 rankings with dates and methods. Map scans check a keyword at each point of a grid around a location. Done-for-you runs Rank.ai for you: $2,000/mo for Core, $5,000 for Scale and $10,000 for Enterprise, with the vendor picking questions, writing and publishing articles and reporting what moved.

What Promptwatch covers that this listing does not
Rank.ai's public pages (and this listing) describe a narrower job than Promptwatch. Most rivals answer whether you were mentioned. Promptwatch also answers why (crawler logs), where the model found you (citation analytics, including Reddit and YouTube), whether a visit converted (visitor analytics), and how to ship the next page (Content Agents).
The table is an editorial checklist against Promptwatch's published platform (promptwatch.com/llms.txt, 2026-08-23). It is not a hidden feature list for this vendor. 'Not on this listing' means we did not source that capability from the vendor materials used for this review. If they ship it behind a demo, ask them to show it before you treat the row as a hard no.
