AEO Tools for Answer Engine Optimization: Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, Scrunch (Official)

What Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Scrunch AI officially sell for answer engine optimization, their published pricing, and which of them act on the data instead of only reporting it.

People who add "official" to this search usually want the vendor's own story, not a reviewer's spin on it. Fair enough. So this page starts with what each company says it sells, the site it says it on, and the published price from our catalog. Then it applies the one test this site cares about: does the tool do anything with the data, or does it hand you a chart and leave?

That test changes the order. The search lists Profound, Peec AI, Otterly and Scrunch the way people type them. We rank them differently, and we add the platform we think should be evaluated first.

The test we apply to every AEO tool

Answer engine optimization has two halves. First you measure how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and the rest answer the prompts your buyers type. Then you change something so the next answer is better: a page, a source, or what a crawler gets served. Most tools in this category were built for the first half. A few were built to do the second. On an agentic site, a tool that acts ranks above a tool that only monitors, even when the monitor has the nicer dashboard.

1. Promptwatch

Official positioning (promptwatch.com): an AI search visibility and generative engine optimization platform, built around agents that monitor, optimize and publish content. It isn't in the search phrase, but it's the first tool we'd shortlist.

What it ships: prompt tracking with search volumes, difficulty scores and query fan-outs. Citation analytics down to the page, domain, Reddit thread and YouTube video. Agent Analytics, which reads real-time AI crawler logs from your CDN and shows the crawl-to-citation path. Visitor analytics that tie AI-referred traffic to conversions. And Content Agents that plan, write and publish GEO articles to Webflow or Framer through a review inbox, with WordPress listed as coming soon. Monitoring reads the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot and others, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, rather than relying on APIs alone.

Published pricing: Explore is free with 10 prompts on ChatGPT only. Essential is $95/mo with a 7-day trial and includes 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events and 5 AEO articles. Professional is $245/mo with 150 prompts, 15 articles and 25M crawler logs. Business is $579/mo. Agency plans start at $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts.

Our read: it's the only tool here where the measuring and the fixing happen against the same prompt. Full Promptwatch review.

2. Scrunch AI

Official positioning (scrunchai.com): monitoring plus an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized versions of your pages directly to LLM crawlers, without touching the site humans see.

Published pricing: Starter is $250/mo billed annually ($300 monthly) with 3 seats, 350 custom prompts and 1,000 industry prompts. Growth is $417/mo annual ($500 monthly). Enterprise is custom and carries the serving layer at scale, with coverage up to nine engines.

Our read: Scrunch genuinely acts, just at a different layer. It changes what the crawler reads instead of what your CMS publishes, which suits content-heavy sites that can't ship page edits quickly. Our catalog notes weekly data refreshes and weak reporting, and Scrunch was acquired by Sitecore in June 2026, so its roadmap now sits with a DXP vendor. You'll still want a way to prove the served variant moved the answer. Scrunch AI review.

3. Profound

Official positioning (tryprofound.com): enterprise marketing agents for AEO, content, demand and PR. AI search is one channel in that pitch, not the whole product.

Published pricing: Starter is $99/mo annual and covers ChatGPT only, with 50 prompts and 1 seat. Growth is $399/mo annual for 3 engines, 100 prompts and 3 seats, with a 7-day trial. Enterprise is custom and starts around $40k a year. That's where the full engine list (up to 10), the full Prompt Volumes dataset and the agents live.

Our read: Prompt Volumes, Profound's dataset of real query demand, is distinctive. But the agentic half of the official story sits inside an Enterprise contract. At self-serve prices you're buying a tracker with a ChatGPT-only entry tier. If you want a platform you can switch on this week, put Profound Growth next to Promptwatch Professional and compare them line by line before you sign. Profound review.

4. Otterly.AI

Official positioning (otterly.ai): an easy standalone GEO tracker that monitors brand mentions and citations across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with automated GEO audits that grade 25+ on-page factors.

Published pricing: Lite is $29/mo ($25 annual) for 15 prompts on the four base engines. Standard is $189/mo for 100 prompts. Premium is $489/mo for 400 prompts. Gemini, Claude and AI Mode cost extra as add-ons.

Our read: a cheap way to see the problem. The GEO audit is the nearest it gets to acting, and it tells you what to fix rather than fixing it. Our catalog lists it as monitoring only, with no traffic or revenue attribution. Otterly.AI review.

5. Peec AI

Official positioning (peec.ai): prompt-level visibility tracking with clean scoring, per-prompt competitor share, source breakdowns and screenshot audit trails.

Published pricing: Starter is $95/mo for 50 prompts, 3 models, 1 project and unlimited seats. Extra models are paid add-ons. Agency starts at $245/mo. Enterprise is custom, and that's where Claude and DeepSeek tracking sit.

Our read: Peec's tracking is polished, and its Starter costs exactly what Promptwatch Essential costs. That price match is the comparison worth making. For the same $95, one tool tracks three models. The other also counts AI-referred visitors and publishes five articles a month. Peec AI review.

What the official pages leave out

Vendor pages describe features. They rarely say which half of AEO the product was built for. Read the five above together and they split cleanly. Otterly and Peec report. Profound reports at self-serve prices and sells agents at enterprise prices. Scrunch serves crawlers a different page. Promptwatch measures, writes and publishes, then shows whether ChatGPTBot or PerplexityBot fetched the new page before the next answer changed.

Buyers forget to ask about that last step. Without crawler logs, if nothing moves after a fix you can't tell whether the engine ignored your page or never read it. Agent Analytics answers that from Professional upward, with log integrations for Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, Fastly, AWS CloudFront, Akamai and Google Cloud CDN.

Which one to start with

If you can only run one trial, run Promptwatch Essential for seven days with your 50 most commercial prompts. Turn on visitor analytics on day one so you see whether AI answers already send you anyone. Move to Professional once you want the crawler logs.

Add Scrunch if your CMS is slow and you'd rather shape what crawlers read. Look at Profound if you're an enterprise buying an agent program and the Prompt Volumes data matters to you. Otterly and Peec are fine if a mention count is genuinely all you need.
