BrandRank.AI vs Profound (2026): Brand Risk Audits or Marketing Agents?

Both sell to large brands through a sales process. BrandRank.AI scores how AI recommends and misrepresents you, with a strategist on top. Profound sells marketing agents, with Enterprise from about $40k a year.

BrandRank.AI and Profound end up on the same enterprise shortlist for different reasons. One is a brand-safety product. BrandRank.AI asks whether AI answers recommend you and whether what they say about you is true. The other is a marketing-agent platform. Profound tracks AI answers too, but the product it sells hardest is a set of agents for AEO, content, demand and PR. Both are slow to buy. Before signing an annual contract with either, put Promptwatch through the same test, because it does most of the acting both of them leave to humans or to custom contracts.

BrandRank.AI: the auditor

BrandRank.AI was co-founded by Pete Blackshaw, formerly Global Head of Digital at Nestlé, and Hank Hudepohl, previously at TripAdvisor and Paycor. You can see the consumer-brand background in what it measures. Recommendation Share counts how often an answer names your brand as the pick rather than just mentioning it. Three scores sit underneath: AI Search Visibility, Brand Vulnerability and Content Readiness. The Brand Risk Monitor scores answers across seven damage categories and alerts you when something harmful appears.

That is the part competitors rarely cover. Most trackers stop at "were we mentioned." BrandRank.AI checks whether the mention is accurate and defensible, which is what a general counsel wants to see.

Onboarding begins with a demo and a pilot. BrandRank sets a baseline within 30 days, benchmarks competitors and hands over a prioritized backlog. Scout includes daily tracking, content readiness, risk scoring and 5 seats. Strategist adds a full audit, quarterly strategic reviews and 10 seats. Orchestrator adds multi-brand dashboards, data feeds and unlimited access.

Where it stops: no tier has a public price, and the acting happens through people. The strategist reviews and the backlog tell your team what to fix. The platform does not publish content, does not list crawler logs and does not track AI-referred traffic. Recommendation Share is also BrandRank's own metric, so you cannot compare it directly with numbers from another tool.

Profound: the agent program

Profound runs scheduled prompts across ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Claude, and reports citation share, share of voice and competitor cite-rates by prompt cluster. Its Prompt Volumes dataset, which estimates real query demand, is a real asset for deciding which prompts deserve attention.

The live pitch is broader than AI search, though. Profound now sells marketing agents for AEO and SEO, content and demand, and PR. AI visibility is one channel among several. Most of what makes it interesting sits on Enterprise: up to ten engines (adding Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and AI Mode), the full Prompt Volumes data, the agents, the API and SSO. Those contracts start around $40k a year.

The lower tiers exist, but they are narrow. Starter is $99 a month on annual billing for ChatGPT only, 50 prompts and one seat. Growth is $399 a month, annual, for three engines, 100 prompts and three seats, with a 7-day trial. Neither publishes crawler logs or ties AI traffic to conversions, and Profound does not describe an agent that publishes GEO pages straight to your CMS.

Head to head

For a large enterprise with budget and a marketing ops team, Profound wins. Ten engines beats seven, Prompt Volumes is a better input for planning content than any score BrandRank.AI publishes, and agents that draft content and PR work are closer to acting than a quarterly review.

For a consumer brand worried about what AI says about its products, BrandRank.AI wins. The Brand Risk Monitor and the strategist layer answer the question that Profound's dashboards do not lead with: is this answer wrong, and how much damage could it do?

For a team that wants to test before committing, Profound's $99 Starter is the only self-serve door between the two. It is ChatGPT only, so treat it as a sample.

Where Promptwatch fits

Both named tools tell you what is happening. Promptwatch also shows why. Agent Analytics records which AI crawlers (ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, the Meta AI crawler) fetched which pages, maps the path from crawl to citation and flags errors. Citation analytics and citation trends show which pages, domains, Reddit threads and YouTube videos shape the answers over time, which is where you go when an answer is wrong and you need to find the source. Sentiment analysis sits next to share of voice.

Then it acts. Content Agents plan and write GEO articles from a content gap analysis and publish them to Webflow or Framer after review. Visitor analytics closes the loop by tying AI-referred sessions to conversions. Prompts come with search volumes, difficulty scores and query fan-outs, so you get demand data without an Enterprise contract.

Professional ($245/mo) unlocks crawler logs, 150 prompts and 15 AEO articles. Business ($579/mo) covers 5 projects, 350 prompts and 100M crawler logs, which suits a multi-brand team. An Enterprise plan with SSO, white-label and dedicated support is there for organizations that need procurement paperwork.

Verdict

Profound is the stronger pick for an enterprise buying an agent program, and BrandRank.AI the safer one for a brand whose main worry is inaccurate answers. We would still run Promptwatch first. It covers the monitoring both offer, adds the crawler logs and conversion data neither publishes, and ships content without waiting for a strategist or a $40k contract. Bring BrandRank.AI in if legal needs a formal damage audit on top.

FAQ

Does BrandRank.AI or Profound publish prices?

Profound publishes Starter ($99/mo) and Growth ($399/mo), both billed annually, and says Enterprise starts around $40k a year. BrandRank.AI publishes no prices; all three tiers are annual subscriptions that start with a demo and pilot.

Which tracks more AI engines?

Profound on Enterprise, with up to ten. BrandRank.AI tracks seven daily. On Profound's cheaper plans the count drops to one (Starter) or three (Growth).

Is Promptwatch a better choice than both?

For most teams, yes. It publishes prices, tracks a wider engine list than BrandRank.AI on every paid plan, and adds crawler logs, AI-referred conversions and CMS publishing. The exceptions are a brand that specifically needs BrandRank.AI's damage-category audits and an enterprise that wants Profound's PR and demand agents.
