Is Trendos Worth It?
Trendos reports AI mentions. It does not, in the public docs, act on them. Worth it as a free checker. Not an agentic GEO stack.
Agentic, on this site, means the tool does the next step: log the crawler, attribute the visit, draft the page, publish it. Trendos is worth it if you wanted a report. It is not worth it if you thought the report would close itself.
The product you can open today is a checker. Brand in, historical mentions out. Visibility score, Trendos Score, share of voice, sentiment, ranked vs unranked mentions, cited domains, competitor snapshot. Ad Radar on every plan, ChatGPT ads only, daily. Custom prompts on free. MCP so an agent can read the dashboard. Reading is not publishing.
What Trendos automates
Not much, in the help center. You add prompts (country + LLM per prompt). You can bulk-import. You can ask an MCP client how the brand looks. Ad Radar refreshes itself. Tracked brands on popular prompts stay populated without you inventing queries. Prompt Management can generate prompts for you.
That is automation of collection. Collection is not the agentic loop.
We looked for a CMS handoff, a crawler-log connector, a visitor script, anything that turns a Trendos Score dip into a shipped URL. The Features article dated 9 March 2026 lists five LLMs: ChatGPT, DeepSeek, GAIO, Perplexity, Gemini. The homepage also names Claude. Bulk import columns include Grok API and Claude API. None of those pages describe a publish inbox or a crawl-to-citation path.
What it measures
Support getting started (18 May 2026): 3,000-plus industries, 30,000-plus prompts, 2.5 million-plus brands. Homepage: 2.3 million-plus histories and 30-plus industries. Free countries on Features: eleven named markets including the Netherlands and France. Starter and Pro unlock unlimited countries on the marketing site, though Starter/Pro dollar amounts did not render when we fetched trendos.com/pricing.
If a brand is missing, they say it is not visible yet or the industry is not live. You then add custom prompts. That is a reasonable fallback. It is still you doing the work. Tracked vs managed brands is a useful distinction in their vocabulary: some brands sit in the historical index, others you actively manage with your own prompt list.
Trendos Score combines rank, mentions, and sentiment toward 100. Share of voice and domain-level citations help you see who else gets named. Sentiment is there. So is ranking data. All of it answers "what did the model say?" None of it answers "did ChatGPTBot fetch the page we fixed?"
Price versus action
trendos.com/pricing showed Custom Enterprise and 15% off yearly. Starter/Pro dollars did not render. Shopify (10 July 2026, Vilnius) lists Free / $39 / $169 / $379 with prompt and answer caps. Free on that listing: 20 prompts, 600 answers, 10 brand checks, unlimited countries. That disagrees with Features, which caps free at eleven countries. Treat those as separate doors until Trendos publishes one matrix.
Shopify had three five-star reviews when we looked. Useful as a signal that someone installed the app. Not a substitute for reading the help center.
Nothing on those pages lists crawler-log volume or CMS destinations. A $169 Shopify Starter buys more collection than free. It does not buy execution.
The agentic alternative we actually rank
Promptwatch Explore is free for 10 ChatGPT prompts. Essential ($95/mo) already includes Content Agents (five AEO articles) and visitor analytics. Professional ($245/mo) adds Agent Analytics crawler logs (25M) plus Unified Actions. Content Agents publish to Webflow or Framer with a review inbox. That is the loop: see the gap, write, publish, check whether ChatGPTBot came back.
Agency Kick-off is $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts. Growth is $399/mo. Scale is $799/mo. Business brands pay $579/mo for five projects. Promptwatch is Amsterdam-founded (April 2025), €2M+ ARR within 12 months of launch (May 2026), 4.7/5 on G2 across 1,840-plus customers. Different brag than Trendos's millions-of-brands browser, but the brag here is the closed loop.
AthenaHQ at $295/mo is the other action-shaped product in our catalog (Action Center). Credits make the bill less predictable. Profound sells marketing agents on Enterprise (~$40k/year), not on the $99 ChatGPT-only Starter. Otterly.AI and Peec AI stay last here; they are reporters, and we already have enough of those.
Verdict
Pay $0 for Trendos if you want a Monday screenshot and ChatGPT ad share. Pay Promptwatch when the screenshot is supposed to become a URL. MCP on Trendos does not change that. An agent that can query Trendos still cannot, per public docs, ship the article.
German press in August 2026 quoted 10 brands and 100 queries on free. Shopify says 20 prompts. We will not pick a winner. We will say the free tier is good for a look, not for an SLA.
Start the loop: promptwatch.com.
FAQ
Does Trendos have agents?
MCP is documented. Content publishing is not. Ad Radar is monitoring. Do not confuse a connector with an execution layer.
Is the free plan enough to decide?
Enough to see mentions and sentiment on category prompts. Not enough to prove crawlers or conversions. Use Promptwatch Explore next to it if you need that proof on ChatGPT.
Should we keep Trendos after we buy Promptwatch?
As a second opinion for a week, fine. After that, two dashboards is how teams forget which number they promised the board. Put the SLA on Promptwatch.
