Top AI bot analytics tools in 2026: crawler logs, agent traffic and citation tracking compared

The top AI bot analytics tools in 2026 compared: which show GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot activity, tie crawls to citations, and what each costs.

"AI bot analytics" covers two things people mix up. One is crawler analytics: which AI bots request which pages on your site, and what status codes they get back. The other is brand tracking: what ChatGPT, Perplexity and others say about you. A good platform ties the two together. Plenty of tools only do one.

This list is about the first, with a view on whether each tool connects it to the second. We read each vendor's pages and recorded what they publish.

What good bot analytics should show

  • Named bots. Real crawler names, such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot and Google-Agent, not a vague "AI traffic" bucket.
  • Verification. Spoofed user agents are common, so look for IP verification.
  • Errors. Status codes and the reason a request failed.
  • Page-level detail. Which paths get hit, and which do not.
  • Crawl to citation. Whether fetched pages end up cited in answers.
  • Referred visits. Human traffic arriving from AI assistants, with conversions where possible.

Ranking: platforms that combine bot data with visibility

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch says it was first in its category to ship AI crawler log tracking, and Agent Analytics is still the deepest bot view we have found. It offers real-time, IP-verified logs, with spoofed user agents filtered out, and tracks a long list of named bots, including GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Google-Agent, GoogleOther, Meta-WebIndexer, Meta-ExternalAgent, Meta-ExternalFetcher and MistralAI-User. It has a crawl-to-citation path with a citation rate per page, error tracking with failure explanations, stackable path filters and CSV export.

Data arrives via Cloudflare (Logpush or an auto-deployed Worker), AWS CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN, a custom HTTP route or the WordPress plugin. Visitor analytics then covers AI-referred traffic and conversions, and 360 Insights joins crawler logs, citation clicks and AI-referred visits per page.

Plan note: crawler logs start on Professional at $245 a month (25M crawler logs). Essential at $95 has none. Business at $579 has 100M. Agency plans include crawler logs from Kick-off at $199 a month.

2. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI includes AI agent and bot traffic reporting alongside prompt tracking, sentiment and site audits. Core is $250 a month and tracks four LLMs. The Agent Experience Platform on Enterprise serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers. Its published bot reporting is less detailed than Promptwatch's log pipeline in what we could read.

3. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ is a visibility and action platform, with Starter at $295 a month. We found no published crawler-log product, so it belongs on this list as a pairing rather than a bot analytics tool.

4. Profound

Profound lists Agent Analytics next to Answer Engine Insights. It is sold as enterprise marketing agents, with AI search as one channel, and Enterprise pricing is custom (an earlier estimate put it at about $40k a year). The entry point is a free 7-day trial.

Who should pick which

If you want bot data tied to citations and traffic, Promptwatch is the strongest option. It answers three questions in one place: did the bots reach the page, did the model cite it, and did anyone click?

If you only want a free look and already use Cloudflare, switch on AI Crawl Control first. If you want a cheap dedicated bot view without a visibility platform, Known Agents is a sensible add. Scrunch AI suits teams that want bot reporting inside a monitoring tool.

The limit of bot analytics

A crawl is not a citation. A fetch tells you a model could read a page, not that it recommends you. That is why the useful tools connect logs to citations, and citations to visits. No analytics tool can guarantee that AI engines will cite your brand.
