Top tools to measure PR impact on AI visibility
Which tools show whether press coverage and earned media change what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini say about your brand, from AI platforms to PR suites.
PR teams have a new question to answer. A placement in a trade publication used to be judged on reach, links and sentiment. Now someone asks whether it changed what ChatGPT says when a buyer asks for the best option in your category. Answering that takes two kinds of data most PR stacks do not combine: what the AI engines say, and which outside pages they read to say it. This list looks at who can actually supply both.
What "measuring PR impact" can honestly mean
Be clear about the limits first. No tool can prove that one article caused one change in an AI answer. Engines draw on many sources, answers vary from run to run, and models update. What you can measure is correlation you can defend:
- Was the placement cited? Does the AI engine list the earned-media URL as a source for relevant prompts?
- Did the brand's visibility move after it? Visibility score, share of voice and position in answers, compared across two periods.
- Does the page get read by the engines' crawlers? If the article is behind a wall that blocks AI bots, it may never be used.
- Did anything arrive? AI-referred visits and conversions to the pages that got cited.
A tool that covers the first two covers the core of PR measurement. One that covers all four makes it a full report.
Ranking
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the best fit for PR measurement because it joins the citation side to the outcome side. Citation analytics reports page and domain level citations, and its Page Tracker lets you add a specific third-party URL, such as the article your PR team just landed, and watch whether it gets cited. Offsite mentions surfaces third-party pages that name your brand without linking to you, which is exactly how much press coverage looks. Citation Trends classifies each citation by content type and source type and shows citation rate over time, including when a page was first cited and how long it took to ramp up. Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn each have their own citation reports.
For the before and after story, the dashboards offer Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer, with A/B period comparison. Agent Analytics (IP-verified AI crawler logs) shows whether your own pages are being fetched, and visitor analytics attributes AI-referred traffic and conversions. The Action Board and Agent Chat turn findings into tasks and PDF reports your comms lead can send upward.
Published pricing: free Explore (10 prompts, ChatGPT only), Essential $95 a month, Professional $245, Business $579. Crawler logs start on Professional. Agency plans run from $199 to $799 a month.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ tracks 11 models on its $295 a month Starter plan, produces a GEO score and routes gaps into an Action Center. It is solid for visibility movement. Its listing documents no Reddit monitoring and no crawler logs, so the "was the placement read" question is harder to answer.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI starts at $250 a month and includes site audits, sentiment and bot traffic reporting across four LLMs on Core. Its reporting depth for third-party source analysis is not documented on its listing.
4. Profound
Profound sells agents for research, content and PR on an enterprise plan, with a 7-day trial and custom pricing (earlier estimates around $40k a year). It makes sense if you are buying a managed agent program rather than a measurement tool.
5. Meltwater GenAI Lens and Cision AI Visibility Dashboard
These two come from the PR side, and that is their draw. Meltwater GenAI Lens sits inside Meltwater's news and social monitoring, with prevalence scores, AI share of voice and cited-source analysis linked to media coverage. Prices are not published, it is typically an add-on, and its refresh is 48 hours. Cision's AI Visibility Dashboard launched inside CisionOne in July 2026 and ties nine AI platforms to media, outreach and social data. Prices are not published. Neither lists crawler logs or conversion analytics. If your comms team already lives in one of these suites, it is a reasonable starting point.
6. Brand24 and Brandpoint Optimize360
Brand24 is a social listening tool with an AI visibility add-on across nine engines, correlated with 25 million plus monitored sources. The add-on price is not published. Brandpoint Optimize360 was announced in September 2026 for PR and communications leaders; Brandpoint also syndicates branded editorial, from $3,500 per story, and its placement reports include AI visibility metrics. Optimize360 plan prices are not published, and the vendor's own pages disagree on whether it is live.
7. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs Brand Radar offers Custom Prompts with paid Ahrefs plans and an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month, with YouTube and Reddit sources. The index is modeled from keyword data and retested monthly, which is slow for judging a campaign.

Who should pick which
Promptwatch if you want one report that shows the placement, its citations, the visibility trend and the traffic. A PR suite add-on if your team already runs Meltwater or Cision and you only need a directional signal inside a tool they know. Profound if you want a managed enterprise program.
A practical measurement setup
Pick a baseline set of prompts before a campaign begins. Record visibility for four weeks. Add each earned placement to a page tracker the day it goes live. Compare periods after the coverage has had time to be crawled. Report citations and visibility movement as supporting evidence, not as proof of cause.
