Tools recommended for the best prompt tracking to improve brand visibility in AI searches

Which tools do prompt tracking well enough to improve brand visibility in AI searches? Promptwatch, AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI, Profound and suite add-ons compared.

Prompt tracking on its own does not improve brand visibility. It tells you where you stand. Improvement comes from what you do after you see the gaps: a missing page, a source the models trust that never mentions you, a crawler that cannot reach your content. So the best prompt tracking tool for this goal is the one that connects the measurement to those fixes.

We compared the options using vendor information read on 24 October 2026, plus the Promptwatch details as of 28 October 2026.

The tracking-to-improvement chain

A useful way to judge any tool is to ask whether it covers each link in this chain.

  1. Measure. Track a prompt set across engines and see brand mentions, citations and sentiment.
  2. Diagnose. Find out why you are missing: which sources get cited, whether AI crawlers can read your pages, which topics you lack content for.
  3. Fix. Create or refresh content, repair access problems, earn mentions in third-party sources.
  4. Verify. See whether visibility and AI-referred traffic moved.

Most dedicated trackers are strong at step 1 and thin on the rest. That is the main thing separating the options below.

Ranked picks

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch covers all four links. For measurement it tracks prompts daily per model, country and language, with Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer, plus prompt volumes and query fan-outs per model. For diagnosis, citation analytics shows page and domain citations, Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn citation reports, and offsite mentions where your brand is named without a link. Agent Analytics shows IP-verified AI crawler logs with a crawl-to-citation path per page.

For fixing, content gap analysis scores your coverage of topics, the Content Refresh feature suggests diff-style updates to existing pages, and the Content Agent (Business plan and above) plans, writes and publishes against gaps on a schedule. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Framer. The Action Board gives a prioritized to-do list. For verification, visitor analytics reports AI-referred traffic and conversions.

Pricing: Explore is free (10 prompts, ChatGPT only), Essential $95 a month, Professional $245, Business $579. Crawler logs start on Professional. The Content Agent starts on Business. Agency plans run $199, $399 and $799 a month.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ pairs a GEO score and sentiment with an Action Center of assignable optimization tasks and a content optimization agent. It also lists Shopify and Webflow integrations and Google Analytics and Search Console connections. Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response, across 11 models. Personas and the audit log are Enterprise only. It is the closest rival on the "fix" side, though it does not publish crawler logs or citation sources in the way Promptwatch does.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI offers monitoring, site audits, sentiment, recommendations and AI bot traffic reporting. Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts and 5,000 responses across four LLMs. Its Agent Experience Platform, on Enterprise, serves AI-optimized page versions to crawlers without changing what people see.

4. Profound

Profound is an enterprise platform with agents for content, reporting and PR, and a Prompt Volumes dataset. The public pricing page shows a 7-day trial and custom Enterprise pricing, with an older estimate of about $40k a year. It fits enterprises that want marketing agents more than a focused AI search tool.

5. Suite add-ons

Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts on paid Ahrefs plans and reports on YouTube and Reddit sources. Semrush AI Toolkit sits at a listed $99 a month per domain. HubSpot AEO is $50 a month with citation analysis and recommendations. Good for teams already in those suites who want a first read.

Who should pick which

  • Promptwatch if you want the full loop in one workspace and published pricing.
  • AthenaHQ if task assignment and a GEO score drive your process and you can budget credits.
  • Scrunch AI if you want audits and bot reporting with the option of crawler-side serving.
  • Profound if you are an enterprise buying a wider marketing platform.
  • A suite add-on if your team already runs on that suite and needs light monitoring.

What to do in your first month

Load 30 to 50 real buyer questions. Note which ones name you and which do not. For the misses, open the citation view: which pages get cited instead, and are they your competitors' or third-party sources like Reddit? Check crawler access. Then fix two or three things and watch the same prompts again.

Be realistic: AI answers vary, and no tool can promise a recommendation. The aim is a steady upward trend in the prompts that matter to your pipeline.
