Promptwatch vs ChatSEO 2026

Two agents that write into a CMS. One measures AI answers and crawlers. The other chats with Search Console. Live SKUs, no blended prices.

Both Promptwatch and ChatSEO can move from chat to a page. That is where the overlap stops. Promptwatch's loop is visibility data in, content and logs out. ChatSEO's loop is Search Console in, Google SEO actions out. One of ChatSEO's twelve agents is named GEO. Naming an agent is not shipping prompt tracking.

The overlap is real but thin. Both tools take a chat instruction and produce a page in a CMS. The difference is what each tool reads and what it acts on. Promptwatch reads AI answers and crawler logs, and acts on visibility. ChatSEO reads Search Console and acts on Google SEO. A chat-to-page workflow is not the same job as a visibility-to-content workflow. The twelve agents on the ChatSEO list include one named GEO, but naming an agent is not the same as shipping the prompt tracking, citation analytics, and crawler logs that define a GEO platform.

If you rank tools by whether they act, ChatSEO acts on Google pages. Promptwatch acts on AI-search operations. This site still ranks the second job higher when the brief is GEO.

The agentic framing of this site is "tools that act, not just report." Both tools act. ChatSEO acts on Google pages: it edits titles, fixes on-page issues, publishes to WordPress and Shopify and Webflow. Promptwatch acts on AI-search operations: it tracks prompts, logs crawlers, and publishes GEO content to Webflow, Framer, and WordPress. When the brief is GEO, the second job is the higher job, and this site ranks it higher. The first job is a Google SEO job, which is real work, but it is not the work this site ranks.

What each agent is allowed to do

ChatSEO (fetched 28 August 2026): GSC read-only, optional GA on Pro, writer, on-page, publish to WordPress / Shopify / Webflow after approval, MCP/API on Pro (40 tools in llms.txt). Founders Dulait, Vengeons, Leducq. EN/FR. FAQ: you apply actions today; more automation is a goal.

The ChatSEO permissions are the Google SEO permissions. It reads Search Console, optionally reads GA on Pro, writes content, fixes on-page issues, and publishes to WordPress, Shopify, and Webflow after a human approves. MCP and API access are on Pro, with 40 tools in its llms.txt. The founders are named. The languages are English and French. The FAQ answer on automation is honest: you apply actions today, and more automation is a goal, not a current state.

Promptwatch: prompt tracking across the listed engines, citation analytics (including Reddit and YouTube), Agent Analytics crawler logs with crawl-to-citation, visitor analytics with conversions, Content Agents to Webflow/Framer/WordPress, Agent Chat and Unified Actions on that data. WordPress connects through an official plugin and a sync token.

The Promptwatch permissions are the visibility permissions. It tracks prompts across the listed engines, runs citation analytics including Reddit and YouTube, logs crawlers with a crawl-to-citation join, tracks visitor analytics with conversions, publishes Content Agents to Webflow, Framer, and WordPress, and offers Agent Chat and Unified Actions over the live data. Shopify is the one CMS on ChatSEO's list that Promptwatch does not publish to, which is the remaining gap on the publish axis.

So both tools hold the WordPress write actor on the public sheets, and ChatSEO adds Shopify. Promptwatch wins every AI-visibility actor.

The publish axis leans to ChatSEO only on Shopify, since both tools push to WordPress and Webflow today. The score on every visibility axis goes to Promptwatch because it tracks prompts, citations, crawlers, and visitors, and ChatSEO does not. The two scores are not the same axis, which is why the next section separates them.

Price of the actor

ActorFloor we can citeWhat it spends on
ChatSEO Free€0Conflicting 10-then-3/day vs 5 prompts
ChatSEO Starter€29/mo excl. VAT100 credits, 1 site, 12 agents including GEO
ChatSEO Pro€49/mo3 sites, GA, MCP
ChatSEO Ranker€79/mo10 sites, 5 seats
Promptwatch Explore$010 ChatGPT prompts
Promptwatch Essential$95/mo50 prompts, citations, visitor events, 5 AEO articles
Promptwatch Professional$245/mo25M crawler logs, 15 articles
Promptwatch Kick-off$199/moAgency unlimited projects/prompts, 10 seats

Read the table by what each floor spends on. ChatSEO Free has a conflicting credit count in its own docs, so the free floor is not a clean number. ChatSEO Starter at €29 buys 100 credits, one site, and the twelve agents including the one named GEO. ChatSEO Pro at €49 adds GA and MCP. ChatSEO Ranker at €79 is the multi-site row. Promptwatch Explore is free and ChatGPT only. Promptwatch Essential at $95 buys 50 prompts, citations, visitor events, and five AEO articles. Promptwatch Professional at $245 adds 25 million crawler logs and 15 articles. Promptwatch Kick-off at $199 is the agency row with unlimited projects and prompts and 10 seats.

ChatSEO annual -20%. Same euro/USD amounts per vendor. Credits: header vs FAQ disagree. Homepage vs FAQ on replacing Semrush. Their reviews hub vs live Ranker grid. Screenshot. Vendor 10,000+ / 130,000+ / 4.9/5 hub / GSC testimonials stay labeled vendor.

The caveats are the honesty layer. ChatSEO annual is 20 percent off. The euro and USD amounts stay per vendor, so no blended price. The credit count disagrees between the header and the FAQ, which is a documented inconsistency. The homepage and the FAQ disagree on whether ChatSEO replaces Semrush. The reviews hub and the live Ranker grid disagree on counts. The vendor numbers (10,000+, 130,000+, 4.9/5 hub, GSC testimonials) stay labeled vendor because they are vendor-reported, not independently verified.

Promptwatch G2 4.7/5, 1,840-plus customers, Amsterdam April 2025. No $29 brand plan.

The Promptwatch numbers are the fact sheet numbers. G2 4.7/5, 1,840-plus customers, founded in Amsterdam in April 2025. There is no $29 brand plan, which is the correction to the old fabricated pricing that used to appear in this repo.

Agentic score

ChatSEO: high on "will it edit the live title if I approve." Low on "will it know the title changed AI citations." Promptwatch: high on measure and on publish for Webflow/Framer/WordPress. No Shopify target.

The agentic score is split by question. ChatSEO scores high on the Google action question: will it edit the live title if a human approves. It scores low on the visibility question: will it know the title changed AI citations. Promptwatch scores high on measure and on publish for Webflow, Framer, and WordPress. Shopify is not one of its publishing targets. The two scores answer different questions, which is why they are not merged.

Do not merge the scores. A WordPress publisher that cannot see ChatGPTBot in CDN logs is still a Google agent. A visibility platform that also publishes to WordPress is still the GEO agent.

The no-merge rule is the axis rule. A WordPress publisher that cannot see ChatGPTBot in CDN logs is still a Google agent, not a GEO agent. A visibility platform that also publishes to WordPress is still the GEO agent, not a Google agent. Merging the scores produces a single number that hides which job each tool does.

Who should run which

Run ChatSEO if the backlog is GSC and WordPress and you want a cheap credit chat to clear it. MCP on Pro if the operator is Cursor.

The ChatSEO case is the Google backlog case. If the work is GSC issues and WordPress edits and you want a cheap credit-based chat to clear it, ChatSEO is the row. MCP on Pro matters if the operator lives in Cursor, because the MCP server lets the agent drive the work from the editor.

Run Promptwatch if the backlog is AI answers. Start Explore. Essential when you need citations and conversions. Professional when the actor you lacked was crawler logs.

The Promptwatch case is the AI answers case. If the work is prompt tracking and citation analytics and crawler logs, Promptwatch is the row. The ladder is Explore to see a ChatGPT replay, Essential when you need citations and conversions, Professional when the actor you lacked was crawler logs. The ladder maps to the objects you need, not to a budget tier.

Run both if WordPress edits and AI measurement are both in the contract. ChatSEO does not retire Promptwatch because it printed GEO on an agent list.

The both case is the contract case. If the contract names WordPress edits and AI measurement, run both. ChatSEO does not retire Promptwatch because it printed GEO on an agent list, because printing GEO on an agent is not shipping the prompt tracking and crawler logs that define a GEO platform.

In 2026 we still pick Promptwatch as the agentic GEO platform. ChatSEO is the GSC employee you might sit next to it.

The summary is the scope summary. Promptwatch is the agentic GEO platform in 2026. ChatSEO is the GSC employee, the Google SEO operator you might sit next to it on the same contract. The two are not the same job, and the pick depends on which job the brief names.
