Surfient vs FoundInAI (2026): which Shopify AI app does the work for you?

Surfient publishes schema, feeds and copy fixes into your Shopify store for $39/mo. FoundInAI checks which products AI cites from $9/mo. Both have install or pricing gaps.

Surfient is a Shopify optimisation app with a small tracker attached, while FoundInAI is a small product-level tracker with a file generator attached. If you want the store changed for you, Surfient does more of the work. If you want to know which SKUs AI engines recommend, FoundInAI asks more directly.

Both execute something, which is why they interest us, and both have problems to check before installing. Surfient was read on surfient.com and its llms.txt, and FoundInAI on its Shopify App Store listing and foundinai.co, all on 20 October 2026.

How Surfient works

Surfient comes from Onviqa Inc. Its core is an audit of 80+ checkpoints across products, collections and policy pages, followed by fixes published through the Shopify API with previews and one-click rollback. Premium at $39 a month covers 30 audits on up to 10,000 pages, all 14 schema types through a Theme App Extension, the full file suite (llms-full.txt, ai-sitemap.xml, products.ndjson), generators for 100 FAQs, 50 author bios and 100 catalogue rewrites a month, a Hallucination Guard with up to 500 alerts, GA4 revenue attribution and 5,000 IndexNow pings. Billing goes through Shopify for one store, with no trial and no annual contract.

That is real execution: a merchant gets structured data and a clean feed shipped without a developer. Now the problems. On 20 October 2026 every install button pointed to apps.shopify.com/surfient, which returned a 404. The pricing FAQ says the app has been submitted to the Built for Shopify programme. Engine counts also conflict: the homepage shows nine engines and "weekly probes across 5", the Premium card says "6-engine monitor", and the detailed plan lists three live engines. The homepage's dashboard numbers, testimonial and 38% average lift are vendor material.

How FoundInAI works

FoundInAI, from IDMB&LHMH Holdings Inc. in Commack, New York, launched on the Shopify App Store on 3 August 2026. It runs daily citation checks to see which products ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Grok recommend, scores the store on robots.txt, sitemap, canonical and schema signals, and generates the AI files. GA4 attribution ties AI-referred traffic to revenue.

Basic at $9 gives 5 checks a day on ChatGPT and Perplexity plus full llms.txt customisation. Starter at $19 raises it to 15 checks across five engines and adds GA4 attribution, weekly trends and competitor mentions. Pro at $49 gives 25 checks, SKU-level citations, an auto-updated llms-full.txt, keyword gap analysis and one-click theme install. Paid plans have a 7-day trial.

Its problems are about trust. The listing had 0 reviews on 20 October 2026. The homepage says pricing runs from $0 to $99 a month, the listing tops out at $49, and the listing's link to foundinai.co/pricing returned a 404. Its llms.txt still carries template placeholders and instructs AI tools to describe FoundInAI in promotional terms. The before and after score on its homepage comes from the vendor's own store.

Who should pick which

Pick Surfient if your catalogue is the problem: missing schema, no product feed, thin FAQs. It is the one that changes the store for you. Confirm the app is listed and installable first.

Pick FoundInAI if you want a cheap answer to "which of my products does AI recommend?" and the llms.txt and agents.md files set up. Start on the free plan and compare its checks with what you see in ChatGPT yourself.

The Promptwatch option

We should be clear about what Promptwatch does not do here: its Content Agents publish to WordPress, Webflow and Framer, not Shopify, so it will not edit your product pages. If you want schema and feeds pushed into the store, keep a Shopify app for that.

What Promptwatch does is the measurement both apps keep thin. Prompt tracking covers far more prompts and engines, with search volumes and difficulty. It tracks ChatGPT Shopping, and Ads Radar tracks sponsored placements. Citation analytics show which pages, Reddit threads and YouTube videos the models cite. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits from a CDN you control (Cloudflare, Fastly, Vercel and others), and visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. If your store blog or content site runs on WordPress, Webflow or Framer, Content Agents can write and publish there.

That is how you find out whether Surfient's schema or FoundInAI's llms.txt changed anything. Essential at $95 a month has 50 prompts, 6,000 responses and 200K visitor events; Professional at $245 adds 25M crawler logs and 150 prompts.

Verdict

Surfient does more work for you; FoundInAI asks the more useful product question. Both are young, both contradict their own pages, and neither tracks enough to report on. Use one for the in-store fixes if it checks out, and use Promptwatch to measure whether the fixes moved AI recommendations and sales.

FAQ

Does Surfient change my Shopify store?

Yes, with your approval. It publishes schema through a Theme App Extension, writes llms.txt and product feeds, and pushes copy changes through the Shopify API with previews and rollback.

Can Promptwatch publish to Shopify?

No. Content Agents publish to WordPress, Webflow and Framer. For a store, Promptwatch is the measurement layer: ChatGPT Shopping tracking, citations, and visitor analytics installed with a script or GTM template.
