Promptwatch vs The Prompting Company 2026

Both platforms write content for AI search. Promptwatch publishes into your own CMS and measures the crawl and the conversion. The Prompting Company adds coding-agent audits for devtools teams.

Both tools earn a place on this site because they do work after the score. The Prompting Company writes AI-optimized articles and, on its top tier, checks whether coding agents can actually use your product. Promptwatch publishes GEO content into your own CMS, then shows whether AI crawlers fetched it and whether the visits converted.

What each one acts on

The Prompting Company splits its product in two. The discovery half finds the questions people put to AI assistants, writes content for the gaps, and measures traffic and mentions from AI bots. The usability half, sold as Agent Experience, maps the tasks an agent runs on a user's behalf and flags where it stalls, such as a misconfigured API setup, a missing doc page, or an error message nobody can parse. The vendor says this half suits devtools, infrastructure, and software shipped as an API, SDK, CLI, or MCP server.

Promptwatch acts on your website and the AI answers that cite it. Prompts carry search volume, difficulty, and query fan-outs, citations break down to page, domain, Reddit, and YouTube, and Content Agents turn the gaps into published pages. An MCP server and REST API v2 let your own agents use the data.

Content generation and the publishing path

The Prompting Company's Pro plan ($299/mo) includes 8 AI-optimized articles a month and content optimization. Each article costs 20 credits from the 4,000 on the plan, so writing and tracking share one pool. White-glove ($3,000/mo) raises the allowance to 50 articles and turns the program into a managed service with weekly reports and a dedicated success manager. Basic ($99/mo) has no articles.

How those articles land on your domain is the open question. The pages we read name no Webflow, Framer, or WordPress publishing. TechCrunch reported in October 2025 that the company hosted about half a million AI-optimized pages for one Fortune 10 customer and routed AI agents to them. That description is a year old, so ask during the trial.

Promptwatch publishes to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress through a review inbox. Professional ($245/mo) includes 5 AEO articles. The automated Content Agent, which picks topics from content gap analysis and ships on a schedule, starts on Business ($579/mo). Agency plans get content gap analysis and Agent Chat but not the automated Content Agent.

Proving the work paid off

This is the widest gap. Promptwatch's Agent Analytics reads AI crawler logs from Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN, or a custom HTTP feed, and maps which crawls preceded a citation. Professional includes 25M crawler logs. Visitor analytics, installed with a small script or a GTM template, ties AI-referred sessions to conversions.

The Prompting Company lists Google Analytics and PostHog as its traffic integrations. It does not publish CDN log connectors, log volumes, a crawl-to-citation view, or citation breakdowns by page or source. PostHog may cover your traffic; it won't show which bot fetched which page before an answer cited you.

"Every model" on Promptwatch means ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. The Prompting Company's Basic card says "all models", but its own table lists three.

Who should pick which

Pick The Prompting Company if you sell an API, SDK, CLI, or MCP server and coding agents are becoming the ones choosing your product. Claude Code and Codex tracking plus a real agent onboarding test are capabilities we have not seen elsewhere in this directory. Budget for White-glove or Enterprise to get them, because neither sits on Pro. Its Hyperbrowser story reports share of voice in browser-automation answers rising from 3% to 58%; that figure is vendor-reported.

Pick Promptwatch if the job is getting your own site cited and showing it in numbers. You get more prompts per dollar at each comparable tier and the crawler and conversion data that tells you which articles earned their keep. A devtools company can reasonably run both.

Our pick

For most teams, Promptwatch is the agentic platform to start with: it publishes into the CMS you already own and measures the result on the same screen. Start on Explore or trial Essential, then move to Business when you want the Content Agent running on its own. Try Promptwatch.
