What is the best AI search visibility tool for e-commerce brands?

Ranked review of AI search visibility tools for e-commerce brands: product recommendations, shopping surfaces, citations and pricing compared, with a clear pick.

E-commerce brands have a different problem from software companies. A SaaS brand wants to be named in a "best tool for X" answer. A store wants a specific product to be named, ranked, and linked, often inside a shopping carousel rather than a paragraph. That changes what a good AI search visibility tool has to do, and it explains why the best general tracker is not always the best choice for a shop.

This guide ranks the tools that matter for e-commerce, using only figures we could source. Where a number is missing, we say so.

What an e-commerce brand actually needs

Before comparing vendors, write down the questions your customers ask an AI engine. They look like "best running shoes for flat feet", "which espresso machine under a certain budget lasts longest", or "is brand X worth it compared with brand Y". Those prompts produce product lists, and your job is to appear in them with the right product.

That means five capabilities:

  • Prompt tracking across the engines shoppers use, including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini.
  • Shopping surface coverage, because ChatGPT shopping carousels and retailer assistants answer differently from plain chat.
  • Citation analytics, so you can see which review sites, Reddit threads and comparison pages the engines trust when they recommend a competitor.
  • Crawler visibility on your own store, because a product page that GPTBot or OAI-SearchBot cannot fetch will not be cited.
  • Revenue attribution, so you can tell whether AI traffic buys anything.

No tool guarantees a recommendation. They measure, diagnose and help you act. Judge them on how much of that chain they cover.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch: the best all-round pick

Promptwatch is first because it covers the whole chain for a store, not only the mention count. It tracks prompts daily per model, country and language, and it monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI. Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral and Grok are tracked through APIs.

For shops the useful parts are specific. AI Shopping tracks ChatGPT shopping carousels and Amazon Alexa product results, with your own catalog uploadable. Citation analytics show page and domain level citations plus Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports, which is where product recommendations tend to originate. Agent Analytics gives IP-verified AI crawler logs, so you can see whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User reach your product pages and what errors they hit. Visitor analytics then follows AI-referred visits through to conversions.

The plan gating matters. Essential is $95 a month with 50 prompts but no crawler logs. Professional at $245 adds crawler logs and custom reports. Business at $579 adds the Shopping Insights module, Ads Radar and an automated Content Agent. The free Explore plan is ChatGPT only with 10 prompts, enough for a first look.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ is a generative engine optimization platform with an Action Center and a content optimization agent. Its pricing page lists Shopify and Webflow integrations, which is relevant if your store runs on either. Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response, and the plan is country-level. Credit usage is the thing to model before buying, because a large catalog of prompts across 11 models consumes credits quickly.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI sells visibility monitoring plus an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized versions of pages to crawlers. Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts and four LLMs: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. It is a reasonable choice if technical page delivery is your main concern, but the Core plan does not reach Gemini or the retailer assistants.

4. Commerce specialists: Wildcard, Azoma and Ranketta

Three tools are built around products rather than brands.

Wildcard syncs a catalog from Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce or a PIM, runs buyer questions weekly, and covers Walmart Sparky and Alexa+ Shopping. Basic is $99 a month for 50 prompts and 20 products. Tracking is free; actions such as product page optimization consume credits.

Azoma targets enterprise consumer goods companies that sell through marketplaces and measures at SKU level. Pricing is sales-quoted.

Ranketta offers a Store Tracker from €29 a month for two models and 30 prompts per model in one country. Its own compare page quotes different prices, so confirm at checkout.

These are strong if you live inside Amazon or Walmart listings. They do not publish crawler logs or page-level citation trends the way Promptwatch does.

5. Goodie, HubSpot AEO and Profound

Goodie starts at $295 a month and reaches SKU-level commerce visibility on its $999 Pro plan. HubSpot AEO is $50 a month and tracks three engines, useful if you already live in HubSpot. Profound is sold as a broader AI marketer, with Enterprise pricing that is custom and earlier estimated around $40k a year, so it suits large brands more than most stores.

Who should pick which

Pick Promptwatch if you want one platform that shows whether you are recommended, why, and what the traffic is worth, and if your store has enough pages that crawler access is a real risk. Pick Wildcard or Azoma if your revenue depends on marketplace shelves and you need SKU-level reporting first. Pick AthenaHQ if a Shopify workflow and an action queue matter more than crawler logs.

How to start this week

Write 30 buyer prompts, split between category questions and brand versus brand questions. Run them in the free Promptwatch plan to see your baseline, then check whether your product pages are being fetched at all. Fix access before you rewrite copy. A tracker cannot promise a recommendation, but it will tell you where you are missing and what the engines cite in your place.
